After Baba Kalyani Mohanlal, Shaji Kailas team is back with a big budget action movie titled Alibhai. Mohanlal plays the title role Alibhai (Anwar Ali) who takecare of poor people and safety of Palayam market with his gang of friends, Cochin Haneefa, Rajan P. Dev, Ganesh Kumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Jagadheesh, Shammi Thilakan, etc. For the people of Palayam market, Alibahi is the only one to help and rescue, when they are dragged in to any problem. Actually Alibhai belongs to the Barami family, who were famous for making wooden ships and once when he got cheated and was accused by his friend, Sundaran Thampy (Siddique) son of Rajan P. Dev, Alibhai cut off Thampy's hand and moved to Palayam market and became the hero of Palayam Market.
The main story starts when his old friend Sundaran Thampy came back to Alibhai for the doing business of wooden ships, which leeds to the murder of his father (Innocent). And Alibhai came to know that there are many strong people behind the murder and they want to wipe off Alibhai and to shift palayam market into an rural area of Kozhikode for building a sea port city in palayam market.
Gopika and Navya Nair acts as the heroines, but the movie lacks romantic and comedy elements. The movie is fully packed of malsala elements and punch situations which make it stronger and a real treat for Mohanlal fans and action film lovers. Also Mohanlal looks extremely attractive with a punch dialogue “Bejarakalle Koya”.
The background score and the cinematography are the two major plus points and the action sequences are also good.
Verdict: Average
